Incident
While driving in Paris, the expatriate employee was involved in a traffic accident when another vehicle ran a red light and collided with her car. As a result, the employee sustained multiple injuries, including a broken arm, fractured ribs, and a significant forehead laceration. Local police and emergency medical services attended the scene immediately.
Response
The employee was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she was admitted for several days of inpatient care. Upon being notified, the insured company promptly contacted Batch Assist through its dedicated 24/7/365 Australian Emergency Assistance hotline. Following hospital discharge, the employee returned to her place of residence in France to begin her recovery.
Under the Batch Expatriate Medical Expenses Policy, all inpatient medical expenses were settled directly with the hospital, ensuring the employee did not need to manage any immediate payments. Outpatient treatments—including follow-up consultations, prescribed medications, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation—were fully covered by the policy.
Throughout the process, Batch Assist maintained consistent contact with both the injured employee and her family, offering support and updates from the moment of notification through to the conclusion of the claim.
Impact
The incident resulted in a significant recovery period requiring extended rehabilitation. However, the comprehensive coverage and coordinated care enabled a smooth recovery. The employee has since returned to full duties.
